Five questions to ask when choosing a rope access partner

So you’re looking for a company to handle exterior painting, cleaning, maintenance and height safety? Our advice? Choose carefully.

In a world of companies yelling, ‘Pick me! Pick me!’, it’s almost impossible to know who to trust. Yet the best companies are those that don’t just tell you to pick them but show you why you should.

RAS-VERTEX is a Sunshine Coast-based team that has been helping the local community improve the look and value of their properties for over ten years, with a focus on exterior painting, cleaning, maintenance and height safety.

The team has compiled some questions for you to ask your future rope access partner, to ensure you’re getting the best people for your job.

1. What makes your company the best at what you do?

The best rope access partner will not be scared off by this question - they will use it to highlight specific examples of why they are the best at what they do. You’d be looking for them to mention a few key things: their team, their clients, their local community, and how they will take care of you. You’ll quickly be able to tell if they’re being authentic and really believe in what they’re saying, or if they’re just paying you lip service.

2. What makes your team special?

You’d be looking for them to talk about the hiring and training process they use internally. This tells you a lot about the culture and values of the organisation, and how they deem someone worthy to join their team. You could also ask about the CEO or leadership team within that organisation - the motivations around why they started the business and why they are passionate about the work they do. While this may seem a bit over the top, you can learn a lot about a company from its leadership team, as they are the ones setting the direction. When you’re spending money with them, it’s worth investing a few minutes to get to know who you’re dealing with.

3. What do your current and previous clients say about working with you?

Getting the lowdown on a company from external people is a good way to find out what they’re really like. A good company should be ready and willing to pass along the name and contact details of previous clients, so you can do your investigation. This shows confidence, as they have no control over what you’ll ask. Reviewing written testimonials is also a good idea.

4. What’s your connection with the local community?

Many organisations that purport to be local are based out of a different part of the country or world, so it’s good to ask about that. Local knowledge is particularly relevant for exterior painting, cleaning and maintenance as a deep understanding of local environmental factors is vital to understanding and implementing the correct steps to manage issues.

5. How will you take care of me?

Your rope access partner must respect your property and your priorities. They need to be committed to delivering both a high-quality service and the best customer service. There’s no point in them doing an excellent job cleaning your multi-story apartment building if they have no people skills and manage to tick off all the residents. Similarly, it won’t do if they’re friendly and considerate to your customers, but their attention to detail is lacking and they miss all the corners. The right company will take the time to understand what’s important to you and the various factors they need to be aware of while completing the job.

We’re proud to be the trusted rope access partner for the Sunshine Coast community. If you’d like to find out why, call us on 07 5371 0201.
